Hi i visit the Marble arch fountain to view some baby geese living there. I noticed u cleaned it recently. Just wanted to report that some homeless people are using it as a washing space (very sad as they are homeless so i umderstand their problem. That said i noticed them doing this has made the fountain become toxic to the birds that have made it their home & it blackens the fountain more quickly i know because i live local for a long time ago & before when they were not living nearby it didnt get as dirty so quickly. U just emptied & cleaned it the other day. I wondered could u put a sign there to say no washing use.or detergent in this water? & a suggestion would be to have a (i understand this might not be a possibility but suggestion just in case it us) but could a running tap near the area (as there is water there already) could a tap be provided as there are many homeless living around this spot & i dont think they are moving so it might be an idea. Alot of people spend time outside here anyway so i feel like it would be a good thing to have regardless of homeless or not but it also might deter them from washing their clotes in the fountain water.
The 2 people that use it for washing maianly is an old bag man who carries lots of bottles with washing up liquid & detergent (i saw him use it) & a group of gypsies they come by and even hang their clothes. Although i have not seen them for about 1 month now so its mainly the old guy washing his sock with detergent & fairly liquid. This issue has been present foa about 4/5 years now maybe longer witb the gypsies. Thats my report. Ok thanksq
