DANGEROUS Children can open gate to street, too lock flimsy and hard to open and close

Reported via mobile in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 20:52, Friday 18 March 2022

Sent to Westminster City Council less than a minute later

Today I had the shock of my life. I was with my toddler (almost 3yr) and baby (5 months). When we left the playground on Porchester Square Gardens to go home just down the road, as usual I asked my toddler to wait for mummy, he was walking too quickly and I got worried so I started chasing after him with my baby in the pushchair. I shouted at him to stop and wait at the gate, then I saw the gate was semi open. I left baby and pram and ran after him, despite being very close he ran into the road with oncoming traffic. Despite the 20mph, cars go faster. Not only this, but there is almost no pavement on park side so cars cannot see children at this crossing. My child was just inches away from an oncoming minibus that did not stop. The car behind stopped at which point I had run into the road to grab him. I am still shaking, people pay no attention to the fact that this is a family park and the gate remains open because this lock is faulty and hard to open.

PLEASE CHANGE IT PLEASE PUT A HIGH LOCK THAT CHILDREN CANNOT OPEN AND THAT ALMOST SHUTS ITSELF WHEN SOMEONE ENTERS THE PARK

PLEASE MAKE THIS A ZEBRA CROSSING SO CARS ARE MORE CAREFUL
